Description
They've been going on about the possibility of people further south in the Northern hemisphere being able to see Aurora Borealis due to the recent solar flare activity. Unfortunately I haven't seen a trace of it. This morning our local sky gave us a bit of a consolation prize though, with bright oranges and a whole bunch of weird little dotted clouds. I thought it looked pretty awesome so I took a shot of it.

Meh, the flare wasn't the biggest, and people in Montana could see it I think, but nothing further south than that.
As opposed to the BIG one in 1859, where you could see aurorae in the Caribbean and people in Boston could read comfortably at 1AM. And telegraphs could run without batteries since they had so much current in the lines.
Fortunately, such a blast only occurs once every 500 years or so, giving us time to harden our grids and such.
And that is a very pretty sky. I love shots like these, where you see interesting cloud formations. I wish I could take pictures of them down here more often but I don't always have my camera with me and I fail.
Still, good picture.
